North – South Divide

Many English people identify themselves as either ‘southerners’ or ‘northerners’, depending roughly which area of the country they hail from. London and the Home Counties is seen as the southern heartland, whilst cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle etc are thought to be quintessentially northern. There are numerous perceived differences between the two, all of which cause much comedy and humorous debate.
